Moroccan Tajine

Your sensual journey into Moroccan cuisine

Imagine sitting in the narrow streets of Marrakech, intoxicated by the scent of exotic spices and delicious ingredients slowly simmering in the traditional clay pot next to you. The Tagine, too Tajine called, takes you into the world of Moroccan cuisine with every bite. This legendary Moroccan casserole dish with a round pot and a pointed lid enables a sensual cooking experience: you hear the quiet crackling as it cooks, smell the merging aromas of cinnamon, cumin and coriander and taste the intense spice that only one Tagine can produce.

What is one? Tagine (Tajine)?

One Tagine (pronounced “Tajin”) is much more than just a pot – it is the heart of Moroccan cuisine. Originally conceived by the Berbers of North Africa, it is made of heavy clay or ceramic and is characterized by its distinctive, round shape with a conical lid. This design creates an exotic variant of braising: the steam circulates inside, condenses on the cool lid and drips back - a natural cycle that cooks meat and vegetables wonderfully tender and juicy.

The word “Tagine” refers to both the cooking vessel and the dish itself. Classically, it is made from unglazed natural ceramic and is watered and fired in the oven before first use - a process that gives it character. Afterwards she is ready for many years of cooking full of flavors and tradition.

Tradition meets modern cuisine

Whether over an open flame Majmar (Mejmar), on the stove, in the oven or even with induction: tagines are versatile. From classic clay models to modern versions with cast iron bases, there is something to suit every need. And they are also a visual highlight – natural or glazed in colors such as oven red.
