Hand-painted tile – Andalusian ornament in Mediterranean ceramic style
In traditional workshops in Morocco, hand-painted tiles are still created in the same way as they were centuries ago. Artisans apply the ornaments to glazed clay tiles with a steady hand. Only during the second firing process in the kiln do the colors develop their typical luminosity and the surface acquires its characteristic shine.
This Moroccan ceramic tile features a decorative ornament of curved lines, floral dots and geometric shapes. The combination of blue, turquoise and warm ocher tones is reminiscent of Mediterranean decorative tiles and the traditional Marrakech style. Thanks to the hand-painted design, each tile has its own expression - small differences make each one authentically unique.
Traditional ceramic tiles from Morocco
Painting glazed clay tiles is one of the oldest craft techniques in oriental ceramic art. Each hand-painted tile is individually designed and then fired in the oven. Typical of these Moroccan tiles are the fine, dark contour lines that separate the colors from each other and give the ornaments their clear structure. Such decorative tiles are also commonly used in the tradition of Zellige art in Morocco.
Versatile wall tiles for kitchens and bathrooms
With their format of approximately 10 × 10 cm, these ceramic tiles are ideal for decorative wall surfaces. They are particularly popular as kitchen splashbacks, tile backsplashes or as colored tile strips in the bathroom or guest toilet.
These oriental wall tiles also create a Mediterranean ambience when used as a counter cladding or as a decorative detail in a café, restaurant or catering establishment. In old apartments, in country house style or in bohemian interiors, different motifs can be combined to create a lively patchwork.
