Diamonds are characteristic of Moroccan mosaic tables. The upside-down squares have both a decorative and a symbolic function: as stylized eyes (witch's eyes), they are supposed to protect people from all kinds of misfortune. Mosaic artists often combine the diamonds with a wide variety of ornaments. However, one thing always remains the same: the glazed mosaic pieces are first cut from handcrafted zellige tiles using a sharp-edged hammer. Each tabletop is purely handmade and therefore absolutely unique.
The edge of the mosaic tabletop almost always features the typical diamonds. In the case of the dining table with green diamonds, the color also refers to religion: many mosques are covered with green tiles. In the garden, this zellige mosaic blends discreetly into the green surroundings. Complemented by a light beige base tone, this mosaic tableis perfect for a natural garden or a country-style terrace.
