The joints between the individual mosaic pieces are clearly visible on the green and white glazed bistro table . This is entirely intentional, as the craftsmen had the constellation in mind when designing it. Alternatively, the design is reminiscent of fireworks unfolding magnificently in the sky. The diamond-shaped borderis typical of Oriental mosaic art : this religious symbol is said to have a protective function.
Considering the color symbolism of Islam, this mosaic tablecould be modeled on a mosque floor: green is the color of religion, white that of purity. Especially in sunlight, the white background looks like precious mother-of-pearl. All mosaic pieces (tesserae) are carved from glazed zellije tiles and masterfully laid.
