A diamond-shaped border is typical of a Moroccan mosaic table. In addition to its decorative function, it also has a symbolic meaning: as stylized eyes (witch's eyes), square diamonds are said to protect people from all kinds of misfortune. Mosaic artists place a wide variety of patterns and ornaments within this frame. However, one thing always remains the same: the glazed mosaic pieces are first cut from the handcrafted zellige tiles using a sharp-edged hammer. Each tabletop is purely handmade and therefore absolutely unique.
Of all the shades of red, Bordeaux red is probably the most elegant. Complemented by natural clay tiles, the elegance of the Zellije mosaic is further enhanced. Combine this mosaic table with dark seats and light-colored upholstery. It adds a touch of oriental chic to any modern terrace design.
