The same bright yellow as these Zellige tiles was previously achieved by clay burners using a toxic arsenic ore. Since this has become known, harmless natural and sometimes artificial pigments are used. This makes no difference to the color effect: yellow is reminiscent of the sun, lemons, and beautiful fields of flowers. Combined with natural-toned mosaic tiles, a yellow mosaic table conjures up the summery south in your garden. Diamonds standing on their tips symbolize eyes and protect the viewer from the "evil eye."
