The daily setting of different mosaics naturally stimulates the imagination. Moroccan maalems (master craftsmen) enjoy developing new ornaments. Modern mosaics even have a very special appeal: they combine today's Oriental culture with traditions that have existed for centuries. As in the past, zellije tiles are cut into the appropriate mosaic pieces with a hammer blade, and as in the past, the craftsman sets the motif and fills it with filler material.
This mosaic table combines two star shapes: if you look closely, you can see the development of the eight-pointed star (with pointed tips) from the eight-pointed star (with rectangular tips). Blue tesserae (mosaic pieces) shaped like ribbons frame each star. The white tile pieces act as a background. But far from it: they too are part of this fully glazed Zellige mosaic. Thanks to its cool appearance, this bistro table fits perfectly into a modern setting. An iron chair gives it the desired authenticity.
