A diamond-shaped border is typical of a Moroccan mosaic table. In addition to its decorative function, it also has a symbolic meaning: as stylized eyes (witch's eyes), square diamonds are said to protect people from all kinds of misfortune. Mosaic artists place a wide variety of patterns and ornaments within this frame. However, one thing always remains the same: the glazed mosaic pieces are first cut from the handcrafted zellige tiles using a sharp-edged hammer. Each tabletop is purely handmade and therefore absolutely unique.
On the Ankabut bistro table, the joints between the individual mosaic pieces are clearly visible. This is entirely intentional, as the craftsmen had the artistically woven web of a spider (Ankabut) in mind when designing it. Considering the color symbolism of Islam, this mosaic table could be modeled on a mosque floor: green is the color of religion, white that of purity. Choose this table if you want to give your garden a subtle touch of the Orient. The two-tone look can be combined with practically any color.
